Colours: der, die, das
Annual leave should normally be taken in the current calendar year. Carry-over is allowed for urgent operational or personal reasons and is generally limited to the first three months of the next year. European and German case law also require the employer to enable leave and give clear, timely notice before statutory leave can lapse; special rules apply to long-term illness.
